🖤 Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
1. Leave the wrap on:
Your artist has wrapped your tattoo to protect it from bacteria.
-
Keep it on until you get home, unless told otherwise.
-
If you have a second-skin bandage or Fixomull Stretch Tape, leave it on for at least 5 days.
Absolutely do not remove prior as you can damage the tattoo.
2. Wash gently:
After removing the wrap, wash your hands first, then gently clean the tattoo using:
-
Warm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap.
-
Your fingertips only — no cloths, scrubbing, or sponges.
Pat dry gently with a clean towel or let it air dry.
3. Moisturise lightly:
ONLY IF NO SECOND SKIN / FIXOMULL
Once dry, apply a thin layer of unscented tattoo ointment or a gentle moisturiser like:
-
Bepanthen or other aftercare products designed for tattoos.
-
Avoid Vaseline or thick products that block air.
4. Keep it clean & dry:
-
Avoid soaking (no swimming, baths, spas) for at least 2 weeks.
-
Showers are fine — just avoid direct water pressure on your tattoo.
-
Avoid tight clothing that may rub against the tattoo.
5. No scratching or picking:
Your tattoo will peel and itch as it heals.
-
Do not scratch or pick the flakes or scabs — it can cause fading or scarring.
-
Lightly slap (don’t scratch) if it itches badly.
6. Avoid the sun:
Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight while healing.
Once healed, always use sunscrean to keep it looking good.
7. Healing time:
-
Surface healing: 1–2 weeks
-
Full healing: 4–6 weeks
During this time, keep it clean, hydrated, and protected.
8. Watch for warning signs:
Contact the artist you notice:
-
Redness spreading beyond the tattoo
-
Yellow/green pus
-
Fever or extreme pain
